Conference Final Game 1’s

Remember that time I said i’d be writing about sports? Here’s me finally getting around to it.

Celtics-Heat

I ran my mouth all week and said Miami wasn’t going to be able to shut down Kg, which turned out to be pretty true (23 and 10 on 9-16 shooting with only 1 turnover in 31 minutes). Not a terrible outing by the seemingly ageless Garnett. But where were Ray Allen and Paul Pierce? A combined 6-25 and 18 points. Ray Allen only took 7 shots and hit one of them. Until Ray allen finds some sort of motivation or something to get him going, Boston is toast. Rondo made some good plays, but he plays so careless at times and needs to be more consistent. both benches were about equal, with Boston getting 14 and Miami getting 16 off the bench. It all comes down to what we all knew it would: Lebron James and Dwayne Wade (a combined 54 points). Tonight, we found Boston couldn’t score with Miami, so they’re going to have to shut them down. How? Beats me, that’s doc’s job. I don’t know that they can. I want Miami to lose pretty badly, and I’d like to see the Celtics do well, but someone needs to let them know this isn’t Philly….this is the Eastern Conference finals. Only way Boston beats miami is if Ray Ray and Pauly boy start putting big numbers. Otherwise, Miami sweeps, but we can all agree it won’t be because of KG.

Thunder-Spurs

I’m not even going to try to write from an unbiased point of view on this one. Being an OKC fan, last night was one of the most frustrating games i’ve seen in a while. OKC ran the Spurs for the first 3 quarters and had them down by nine heading into the 4th. Then the most boring basketball team in the world ran it’s incredibly boring screens and created scoring opportunites with boring brilliant interior passing and apathetically shredded OKC for 39 points in those 12 minutes. Frustrating to watch. Manu Ginobli has to be held under 20 for OKC to win, I believe. He was too much of a factor and he really made the spurs go late. Tim Duncan continues to indulge in the fountain of youth and his cash money 18 foot jumper from the top of the key and finished with 16 and 11. Tony Parker only had 6 assists but he spreads the floor so incredibly well and does the penetrate and kick about as well as anyone in the league. Coach K is smiling from his home in the slums somewhere in Durham. The Spurs didn’t really have an answer for KD at all, 27 and 10 and they really focused on shutting down everyone else and they did it well. Westbrook struggled (7-21), and scared the crap out of everyone in the state of Oklahoma with his antics late in the 4th quarter, and Harden looked oddly unplugged. I also don’t understand why Serge Ibaka sat most of the 4th quarter and Scott Brooks chose to leave in Perk with 5 fouls. That left the Spurs penetrating and getting easy buckets and Perk playing soft to avoid fouling out. James, play harder. Russ, don’t be so careless with the ball. KD, keep doing what you’re doing. This series is going to be a good one.
